Al Gore, 2007 Prince of Asturias Award Laureate for International Cooperation, to give a conference tomorrow in Gijon
Amos Oz, representatives of Yad Vashem and the journals Science and Nature to participate in numerous events in Oviedo.
Al Gore, 2007 Prince of Asturias Award Laureate for International Cooperation, will give a conference titled "An Inconvenient Truth" at Gijón´s Teatro Jovellanos. The event will begin at 10.30 am. The chairman of the Alliance for Climate Protection will be speaking to the public, commenting on numerous slides, for about an hour and a half. Free tickets have been made available by the Foundation at the Teatro Jovellanos box office.


5th International Journalism Forum featuring Yad Vashem

A delegation from Yad Vashem, the Holocaust History Museum in Jerusalem, will be taking part in the 5th International Journalism Forum, to be held at the library of Oviedo University´s Historic Building at 12.00 noon. Titled -Yad Vashem: Remembering the Past, Shaping the Future-, it will feature Perla Bittan Hazan, director of Yad Vashem´s Ibero-America, Spain and Portugal Desk; survivors Jaime Vándor, Mazaltov Behar Mordoh, Felix Zandman, Zygmunt Rotter Fleischer and Adela Quijano de San Briz, wife of the Spanish ambassador in Hungary Ángel Sanz Briz, who was named Righteous Among the Nations. The delegation from Yad Vashem will be answering questions from the audience at the end of the event. The event will be open to the public up to the seating capacity.


Conference by Amos Oz

2007 Prince of Asturias Award Laureate for Letters Amos Oz will be giving a conference tomorrow Thursday, 25th October, at 1.00pm at the library of Oviedo University´s Milan Campus. He will be answering questions from the audience during the last part of the conference. The event will be open to the public up to the seating capacity.


Debate with representatives from Science and Nature

Representatives of the Award Laureates for Communication and Humanities, the journals Science and Nature, will be taking part in a debate titled "The Challenges of Communication in Science", which is to take place at the library of Oviedo University´s Historic Building at 7.00 pm. Representing the journal Nature will be Annette Thomas, CEO of Macmillan Ltd, and Philip Campbell, its editor-in-chief. Science Magazine will be represented by Colin Norma, its news editor, and Andre Sugden, its international managing editor. The event will be open to the public up to the seating capacity.
